RANGPUR: Jatiya Party (JP)-nominated candidate Rahgir Almahi Saad Ershad was unofficially declared win in Rangpur-3 by-polls.

Saad Ershad won the Rangpur-3 by-poll bagging 58,878 votes, Regional Election Officer and Returning Officer (RO) for Rangpur-3 by-poll GM Sahatab Uddin announced the unofficial results at Police Hall control room on Saturday night.

The nearest rival BNP-nominated candidate Rita Rahman secured the second position bagged 16,947 votes with her party symbol Sheaf of Paddy.

A total of six candidates contested in by-poll in Rangpur-3 seat that became vacant following death of Leader of the Opposition in the Jatiya Sangshad and Party Chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad on July 14 last.
