RANGAMATI: Miscreants shot a local Awami League leader to death in Rajasthali upazila of Rangamati Sunday (May 19) night.

The incident happened in Naikhongchora area of Bangalhalia union around 11pm.

Banglahalia Union Parishad Chairman Triomong Marma confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

Deceased Chonkla Ching acted as the ward-8 unit Awami League president in Bangalhalia union.  

Locals said a group of armed men called Ching away from his residence and fled the scene, leaving him shot dead.

None of the attackers could be identified immediately.
