Demo in city for Khaleda’s release

DHAKA: Leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Mahila Ainjibi Dal, a front organization of BNP, brought out a procession in Dhaka city demanding release of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail and her proper treatment.

Some leaders and followers of the party, led by BNP senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, took out the procession from party’s Nayapaltan central office on Friday (May 10) noon.

Agitating leaders and activists are chanting various slogans demanding Khaleda Zia's immediate release and her proper treatment.

The procession ended in front of the BNP central office after parading through Nightingale intersection.

After the procession, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, in his brief speech, said that BNP Chairperson and also three-time former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, has been living a miserable life in prison due to revenge.

The government has to be accountable to the people for its inhumane behavior to Khaleda Zia by keeping her in prisons. We demanded unconditional release of Khaleda Zia and ensure her medical treatment at her preferred hospital immediately.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been in jail since a special court convicted her in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on February 8 last year.

Imprisoned BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on April 1 for her medical test.
