DHAKA:  Awami League nominated Ekramul Hoque Titu as its mayoral candidate for the first ever elections to Mymensingh City Corporation.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the AL Central Working Committee with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair at Ganabhaban on Friday afternoon (April 5).

Titu is the vice-president of AL’s Mymensingh Metropolitan unit.

Titu was elected as the first administrator of Mymensingh municipality or City Corporation on October 16 of last year.

The elections are slated for May 5. The last day of nomination papers submission is on

April 8. Section process starts on April 10 and the date for withdrawal of candidacy is on April 17.
