GAZIPUR:  Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said Jatiya Oikyafront’s rally in Sylhet was not halted, but postponed for security reasons.  

Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister told reporters after inspecting Dhaka-Tangail highway at Chandra area under Kaliakair Upazila of Gazipur on Friday (October 19).

October 16, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) president ASM Abdur Rob made the announcement to hold a rally in Sylhet on October 23.

On October 17, Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) said permission to hold the rally was granted.

However, on October 18, SMP said permission was postponed.
