Govt. not to try Ershad though 7th amendment scrapped: BNP

DHAKA: BNP Secretary General Khandakar Delwar Hossain Thursday said the government would not bring former military ruler Ershad to book though the 7th amendment was repealed.

He came up with the comment while addressing a meeting marking BNP Chairperson’s jail release day organized by Juba Dal in the city’s Muktangon in the afternoon.

The secretary general also said the government, who came in power through conspiracy with the help of ‘illegal’ government of the 1/11, could not to bring Ershad to justice.

If Jamaat would become partner of the ruling Awami League, it would also face the same destiny, he added.

Delwar said the government considers threat if anyone raised voice against its misrule.

He said, “If we are barred from talking in the parliament. We want a congenial environment for joining the JS session.”

With Juba Dal president Moazzem Hossain Alal in the chair, Shecchsebak Dal president Habib-un-Nabi Sohel, Juba Dal General Secretary Saiful Alam Nirab, Chhatra Dal president Sultan Salauddin Tuku, General Secretary Amirul Islam Alim also spoke in the meet.
