DHAKA: Banglanews24.com, country’s leading news portal, celebrated its 10th anniversary with a call to nurture impartial journalism in moving forward to build a prosperous Bangladesh.
Banglanews began its journey in 2010 as an online news outlet of East West Media Group (EWMGL), a concern of Bashundhara Group, with the aim to reach every corner of the world through digital platform.
The anniversary was marked by cutting a cake at Banglanews office on EWMGL premises in the city’s Bashundhara Residential Area on Wednesday (July 1).
Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, Daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury, Kaler Kantho Editor Imdadul Haq Milan, Bashundhara Group Managing Director’s Chief Coordinator Muhammad Golam and Banglanews24.com Editor Jewel Mazhar were present on the occasion.
Expressing well wishes on its anniversary, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam said: “Banglanews is doing very well. I sincerely hope that this upward trend continues in future.”
Kaler Kantho Editor Imdadul Haq Milan said: “At first I want to congratulate Banglanews on its triumphant journey. The portal successfully managed to create its own place among readers across the country and abroad. Bashundhara Group has always achieved great success in its every endeavor and business entities. Banglanews is yet another example of that successful story.”

At the end of the ceremony, Banglanews Editor Jewel Mazhar congratulated all the employees and distinguished guests on the anniversary.
He said: “We have set foot on the 11th year of our long journey. Banglanews is a combination of youth and merit. Young, talented and enthusiastic journalists are behind the wheels of this organization. We have passed so many tough tests in the past and I am confident that we will do so in the coming days.”
He continued: “It is a bilingual news-portal. Our objective is to present new ideas to readers every moment. Banglanews will move forward with the energy of its youthful workforce and most of all it will continue to present honest and objective news stories.”
Expressing his gratitude to Bashundhara Group, Banglanews editor said: “Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan is the one who has always extended his helping hand to Banglanews on its long expedition. We all are very grateful to him. We also cherish the support and inspiration provided by Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir.”
