Two ‘robbers’ killed in ‘gunfight’ with rivals in Magura

MAGURA: Two suspected robber ringleaders were killed in an alleged gunfight between two groups of bandits over internal conflict near Barunatail Bridge in Magura Sadar upazila early Wednesday (Feb 19).

The deceased were identified as Lavlu Mondal, 40, of Madhukhali upazila, and Daud Mondal, 38, of Boalmari upazila in Faridpur district.

Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Saiful Islam told Banglanews that two groups of robbers engaged in a gun battle among them over establishing dominance in the area after midnight.

Hearing sounds of gunshots, villagers informed police. A patrol team of police went to the spot and found the two bullet-hit ‘robbers’ lying on the ground, he said.

Later, the injured were taken to the Magura 50-bed hospital, where doctors declared them dead, he added.

Both of them were wanted in several criminal cases, he said.

Seven sharp weapons and 10 cartridges were recovered from the spot, the OC Saiful Islam said.
