ASHULIA, DHAKA: A female worker was killed and three others were injured in an explosion at a sweater factory in Ashulia of Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka, on Tuesday (Dec 10) morning.  

The incident occurred at Natural Village Sweater Ltd factory in the Khejurbagan area of Ashulia.

Deceased Rima Khatun, 20, worked as swing operator at the nearby readymade garment factory Murad Apparels Limited.

Zone Commander Anwarul Huq of Savar Fire Service – 4 said a wall of the sweater factory collapsed on the pedestrians of the road when a gas heater machine of the factory exploded this morning. 

Rima and the other workers were walking on the road which is adjacent to both factories, and the wall collapsed on them, leaving her dead on the spot, he said.

The injured workers were taken to Enam Medical College and Hospital in Savar for treatment, the official added.
