DHAKA: The government has conditionally declared Faridpur as City Corporation. Faridpur will become a City Corporation after being promoted as a division.

From now on, the government has decided that there will be no city corporation other than a divisional city.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Implementation Committee for Administrative Reforms (NICAR) on Monday (October 21) at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon of the capital. 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting.

After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam disclosed the information at a briefing at the Secretariat.
