Indonesians invited to invest in Bangladesh Speakers at the seminar in Jakarta of Indonesia

JAKARTA: Indonesian investors were invited to invest in Bangladesh at a seminar held in Jakarta of Indonesia.

Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh Rina Soemarno made the call at ‘Indonesia-Bangladesh and Nepal Business Forum Network,’ seminar on Thursday (October 17).

Rina Soemarno said: “People from abroad think Indonesia means Jakarta and Bali. However, many sand dunes are being built up in Indonesia, the country of about 17,000 islands.”

He also said Bangladesh's exports account for only 1.05 percent of Indonesia's total exports whereas .004 percent of Nepal’s.  There are scopes to invest in various sectors including of tourism, pharmaceuticals, maritime and hospitals in Indonesia.  

Speakers set out possible sectors for investment in the three countries; they said economy of Bangladesh or Nepal doesn’t stand comparison with the mightiest Indonesian economy based on solid foundations.

Urging Indonesian investors to invest in Bangladesh, the seminar also pointed out that people of this country have a very positive impression towards Indonesia and its people.

Md. Borhan Uddin, a Bangladeshi businessman who set up industries and factories in Indonesia, said Indonesia is an excellent country to invest in. However, Bangladesh is far ahead over the last two decades.

Ferdi Piai, director of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for South and Central Asia was the moderator at the seminar. Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh Rina Soemarno presented main speech at the seminar.
