DHAKA: Detectives arrested another accused of BUET student Abrar Fahad murder case for his alleged involvement in the gruesome killing. 

The arrestee, ASM Nazmus Sadat, is a student of batch 17 of Mechanical Engineering department in BUET, said Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

Sadat was arrested by a team of detective Branch of Police around 3:30am today from Birampur upazial of Dinajpur, Masudur said.

His name was mentioned in the First Information Report (FIR).

With Sadat, the law enforcers have so far arrested a total of 20 people in this connection.

He has been absconding since the murder. To avoid arrest, he was trying to flee to India via Hilli border of Dinajpur district, the DMP DC added.

Abrar Fahad, a second year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of BUET, was beaten to death inside the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall in the early hours of October 7.

Police recovered his body from between the ground floor and the second floor of the Sher-e-Bangla Hall at 3am on the day.

Abrar’s father Barkat Ullah filed a case against 19 people with Chawkbazar Police Station in connection with the Abrar murder.
