LAXMIPUR: A youth has been killed in a so-called gunfight between two criminal gangs at Bakul Tola in Sadar upazila early on Tuesday (Oct 15), police said. 

The deceased was identified Elius, son of Nurul Amin of North Magura village in the upazila.  

Acting on a tip-off that two criminal gangs were engaged in a gunfight in the Bakul Tola area, a police team arrived on the scene to investigate.

Sensing the presence of the police, the criminals fled to the spot, leaving bullet-wounded Elios behind.

Later, he was taken to Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

 Police seized one pistol, two rounds of bullets and five bullet shells from the scene.

Abul Kalam Azad, officer in charge of Chandraganj police station, told Banglanews that the young man is believed to have been shot dead during a shootout by two criminal gangs. The body was sent to Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.
