2 Yaba ‘traders’ killed in Teknaf ‘gunfight’

COX’S BAZAR: Two ‘Yaba traders’ were killed in a reported gunfight with police in hilly area adjacent to Parjatan Bazar under Teknaf upazila of the district early Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Ahmed Hossain, 45, of Ghona area in Hatiya and Abdur Rahman, 46, of Block-D in Noyapara Rohingya Camp area.

Pradip Kumar Das, OC (officer-in-charge) of Teknaf Police Station, said when a team of police reached the area along with the two Yaba traders to recover Yaba and arms, their cohorts opened fire on the cops early Saturday.

Police fired back in self-defense, triggering a gunfight.  They found bullet-hit Ahmed and Abdur after the gunfight, he added.

They were taken to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital where doctors declared them dead, the OC said.

The bodies were kept in the hospital’s morgue for autopsy. Besides, legal steps were being taken in this connection, Pradip Kumar Das informed Banglanews.
