3 drown in Jamalpur flood water

JAMALPUR: Three persons drowned in flood water in Bakshiganj Upazila of Jamalpur. One businessman went missing after he was drifted away by the strong current.

One lakh people have become stranded in seven unions of the upazila.

However, government said it is 80,000. 

According to locals, a man who goes by the name of Abu Bakkar was swept away by the strong current at Gopalpur village of Bagachar union of Bakshiganj upazila on Friday morning.

Later, his body surfaced. Abu Bakkar was the son of late Gias Uddin of Gopalpur village.

A child named Shakib Khan, 5, drowned in flood water at Aimari Khanbari area under Sadurpara union.  

A schoolboy namely Mazzad Hossain also drowned in water. Later, a team of divers of fire service recovered his body on Friday noon. 12-year-old Mazzad Hossain was the son of Faruq Mia of Sadhurpara village.
