DHAKA: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said mosquito-borne viral fever dengue, which has taken an epidemic form in Dhaka city, will be prevented at any cost.
"Our combined efforts from the city corporation authority will remain uninterrupted, against aedes mosquitoes and dengue fever," he told a rally Friday (July 19).
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam also took part in the rally organized for raising awareness over dengu and chikungunya fevers, on Manik Mia Avenue.
"Dengu has taken an epidemic form in the capital city, all of a sudden. We have been gathered here to raise awareness. We want you to be aware. All our efforts will remain continued until dengue comes under control," said chief guest Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
Mayor Atiqul Islam told attendees to stay concern against water stagnation in flowertob where aedes mosquitoes breed.
DNCC officials, workers and supervisors are working to accelerate the overall efforts against the mosquito menace, he added.
Bangladesh national cricket team former skipper Akram Khan, all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraj, actors Fedous Ahmed, Riaz and Aruna Biswas and noted activist-columnist Syed Abul Maksud, among others, took part in the awareness rally.
