Barguna attackers won't be spared: Home boss Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal addresses the ceremony

CHATTOGRAM: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the persons involved in killing Rifat in front of his wife in broad daylight in Barguna won't be spared.

"It's shocking. Police aren't idly sitting. Two persons have been arrested meanwhile," he told reporters.

Asaduzzaman Khan, as the chief guest, addressed the award ceremony of Bangladesh Police Women Network (BPWN) at International Convention Center here Thursday (June 27) afternoon.

However, 22-year-old Rifat Sharif from Barguna sadar upazila was allegedly hacked indiscriminately by his wife Ayesha Siddiqa Minni's alleged former husband and aides in broad daylight in front of Barguna Government College Wednesday (June 26) morning.

A video of the brutal attack went viral on the social media, triggering widespread outrage as several bystanders was closely looking the incident but didn't come to protect the victim. 

Rifat succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, Barishal in the afternoon.

Police, through scrutinizing a video footage of the incident, on Wednesday said the attackers were identified as Noyon Bond and his friends Nishan Farazi and Rabby Akon.  

The victim's father Dulal Sharif accused 12 persons and unnamed six to seven others in a case filed with Barguna Police Station, at the night.

Police arrested one of the accused named Chandan early Thursday.
