2 killed in Tongi truck-leguna collision

GAZIPUR: Two persons were killed and at least eight others injured as a truck collided with a leguna (local human hauler) on Tongi-Kaliganj Road in Gazipur Thursday (June 27) morning.

The deceased were identified as Subash Chandra Das, 45, a fish trader from Kaliganj upazila and Badol, the leguna helper hailing from Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh.

The injured couldn't be identified immediately.

Tongi East Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Sohrab Hossain told Banglanews that a leguna was on way to Kaliganj from Abdullahpur, carrying some seven to eight fish traders, in the morning.

The leguna collided head-on with a truck in Silmun area, leaving Subash dead on the spot and others injured.

Of the injured, Badol was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital.

The bodies will be sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for autopsies, added the SI.
