Nusrat murder: Probe report submitted against OC Moazzem

DHAKA: Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has submitted the probe report in the case filed against former Sonagazi OC Mozzem Hossian over the leakage of recorded version deposition of slain madrasa girl Nusrat Jahan Rafi.

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) said they found evidence of spreading recorded version deposition of slain madrasa girl Nusrat Jahan Rafi through social media.

Senior ASP Rima Sultana of the PBI Headquarters office on Sunday (May 26), submitted the report to the cyber court.

She said that on April 15, Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Sumon filed a case against former OC Moazzem Hossain of Sonagazi Model Police Station under the Digital Security Act.

The court directed the PBI to investigate the allegations accepting it as a petition case filed under section 26, 29, 31 of Digital Security Act-2018. In the investigation, we found evidence of every allegation. The report has been submitted to the court with all the data found true in the investigation.

On May 15, Chief of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Banaj Kumar Majumder said former Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Feni's Sonagazi Police Station Moazzem Hossain leaked the reordered version deposition of slain madrasha girl Nusrat Jahan Rafi.

All the accused involved in the incident of setting Nusrat on fire to kill her have been arrested.

OC Moazzem Hossain was earlier suspended and withdrawn from Sonagazi Police Station and adjusted to Rangpur Range after he was proved neglecting duty in the incident of setting Nusrat afire.

Nusrat Jahan Rafi, the madrasha girl from Feni’s Sonagazi upazila, who was set on fire on April 6, succumbed to her burn injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on April 10 night.

On April 6, the student went to the exam center at Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa. Later, some students, who are loyal to the principal of the madrasa, took her to the roof and set fire on her by four people wearing burqa, veil and gloves.

At her screaming, locals, students and teachers took her to hospital.

Victim’s elder brother field a case with Sonagazi model police station over the incident.

The heinous incident occurred days after her mother on March 28 filed a case against the madrasa principal SM Siraj-ud-Doula on charge of harassing the girl sexually on March 27.
