DHAKA: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained four members of a gang for their alleged involvement in making fake papers and insurance certificates of BRTA from South Keraniganj in Dhaka on Thursday (May 23).

RAB-10 disclosed the matter in a press release at noon.

The detainees are Jewel Rahman, 38, Md Sujon, 35, Md Habibur Rahman Hira, 35 and Md Sujon, 37.

The notification said that on Wednesday (May 22) RAB-10 Deputy Commander Major Mohammad 

Ashraful Huq, deputy commanding officer of Rab-10, led the operation and arrested four members of BRTA fake papers and insurance certificates making gang from South Keraniganj.

The official also seized huge quantity of counterfeit BRTA documents, including 38 fake insurance certificates, white paper for making 20 fake insurance certificates, five monitors, four CPUs, three keyboards, one video recorder, two color printers, two scanner machines, one laminating machine, three seals of different types, one stamp pad, four mobile phones and cash Tk14, 500 from their possession, it added.

As per primary interrogation, RAB said that they had long been making fake insurance certificates and various fake certificates. 

They were cheating the people of the country by selling those to them. 

A case was filed against them with the South Keraniganj Police Station.
