'Drug dealer' killed in Teknaf 'shootout'

COX'S BAZAR: A suspected drug dealer was killed in a reported shootout with police members in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar early Thursday (May 23). 

Deceased Md Hanif, 38, was hailed from Hinla Natmora Para area of the upazila.

Three police members were also injured in the shootout that took place in Marine Drive Road.

Teknaf Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pradip Kumar Das told Banglanews that the law enforcers took Hanif with them in a drive to recover arms and yaba.

Hanif's aides opened fire at the policemen, enforcing the law enforcers to retaliate.

Hanif was rescued from the spot with bullet injuries and taken to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex where he succumbed to his injuries.

The body was sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for an autopsy, said the OC.
