DHAKA: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) rescued a man from the capital's Uttara hours after he had been abducted from in front of his Banani residence Sunday (May 19).

Five members of a gang-- Tuhin Matabbor, 39, Forkan Hossain Matabbor, 22, Abdul Majid, 39, Alam Khan, 38 and Din Islam Babu, 23 were detained over the abduction. 

RAB-1, in a press release, confirmed the matter Monday (May 20).

Tanzir Islam was picked up to a microbus from in front of his residence in Banani around 11am Sunday (May 19), RAB said.

The kidnappers used two microbuses and assaulted the victim for Tk 20 lakh ransom money, RAB added.

RAB-1 members carried out a drive at a residence in Uttara sector-6 and rescued Tanjir, in the evening.

Five members of the gang were nabbed and seven mobile phones, Tk 11,000 cash money and a watch were seized from their possession.

Legal action will be taken against the detainees, added the press release.
