DHAKA: A seminar on ‘International recognition of Bangladesh Genocide’ was held in The Hague, Netherlands to demand justice of genocide in Bangladesh and international community to recognise this day as International day.
‘European Bangladesh forum’ in The Hague, Netherlands organised the seminar on Saturday (March 23).
The speakers in the Seminar raised a single voice that this is the time to recognise Bangladesh genocide day as International day to keep en example in the world for not repeating such atrocities in the world again.
Though much times have been passed. Justice delayed, justice denied, Bangladesh Ambassador Sheikh Mohammed Belal reiterated.
The participants of the Seminar later demonstrated to the Peace Palace in The Hague and the Shahid Minar (Monument of the language martyrs) in The Hague demanding the justice for these war crimes and the international recognition of this day.
The meeting in participation of experts of all backgrounds expressed utmost solidarity, deep touch and grievances for the genocide on 25th March, 1971 committed by Pakistani army.
Renowned Journalist of the Netherlands Bikash Barua Chowdhury and President of the organisation Mr. Ansarullah inaugurated the seminar.
The meeting was also addressed by Director of the Hague Peace, Jakob de Jonge, the producer of the film, "Blockade" Syed A. Yousuf , Columbia University, Dr. Wolfgang-peter zingel of Heidelberg University, Germany Shomi Kaiser, daughter of martyred intellectual Shahidullah Kaiser and Belgium Awami League Secretary Jahangir Chowdhury Ratan.
The program was enriched with the video messages of Dr. Nuzhat Chowdhury, daughter of Late Dr. Alim, a renowned eye specialist, Dr Meghna Guhathakurta, daughter of late Jyotirmoy Guhathakurta, a philosopher and rich speech of Shomi Kaiser, daughter of martyred journalist Shahidullah Kaiser.
Khokon Sharif, Morshed Mahmud and Saud Khan from Belgium Peace Committee attended the seminar.
All of them brutally killed by the occupying Pakistani army on December 15, 1971 night just the day before Bangladesh officially got the victory on December16, 1971.
'Blockade' film made by Bangladeshi Engineer Syed A. Yousuf detailed a story how the peoples of America obstructed the shipment of the arms from U.S.A to Pakistan, which was allegedly used in the massacre of Bengalis in then East Pakistan.
