DHAKA:  A mobile court seized 10 tonnes of Hilsa fry and sentenced nine persons to one year in prison for selling it as a drive was conducted in city’s Jatrabari area. 

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Department of Fisheries jointly conducted the drive around 3 pm on Friday (March 22).

“The drive was launched in three storehouses of Jatrabari. 10 tonnes of Hilsa fry (between 3 and 5 inches) were seized,” Executive magistrate of RAB headquarters Sarwar Alam told Banglanews.

“Catching, carrying, preserving, and selling of Hilsa fry is punishable act. The seized ones will be distributed to orphanage,” Sarwar Alam added.
