College girl among 6 killed in Barisal road crash

BARISAL: Six persons, including a college student, were killed and six others injured in a road accident in Banaripara upazila on Friday (March 22).

The deceased were identified as Shila Haldar, 24, a Masters student of Barishal Govt BM (Brajo Mohan) College, Manik Shikdar, 40, son of Yunus Sikder of Bakerganj, auto-rickshaw driver Khokon, 35, son of Ensaf Ali of Kashipur area, Sohel 25, driver of the human hauler, Parvin, 35 and Meherunnesa, 50,  Madhobpasha area of Babuganj upazila.

The accident took place at Gariarpar this morning, said Md Yunus Ali, Station officer of Barisal Fire Service and Civil Defense.

A Banaripara-bound bus hits a Barisal town-bound human hauler (locally known as Mahindra) coming from Banaripara, leaving the college student dead on the spot and injured 10 others.

The injured were taken to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced Manik and Khokon dead on arrival. 

Later, three others Parvin, Meherunnesa and Sohel succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
