DHAKA: A 15-member committee was formed headed by former shipping minister Shajahan Khan to return discipline on roads.

Road Transport & Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader made the disclosure while addressing the 26th meeting of National Road Safety Council (NRHC), at Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) office in Banani Sunday (Feb 17).  

“The committee will submit report within next 14 working days. Effective initiatives will be taken based on the report to bring discipline on roads,” said Quader.

Another committee was formed of home, rail and law ministers for implementation of a road safety law passed at the parliament. 

“Huge development is underway. Now the biggest challenge is to bring discipline on the road,” added the minister who chaired the meeting.

However, the committee led by Shajahan Khan includes Jatiya Party Secretary General Moshiur Rahman Ranga, Nirapad Sarak Chai Founder Actor Ilias Kanchan, Writer-Researcher Syed Abul Maksud and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia.
