DHAKA: Upazila Parishad Elections will be held in five phases from the first week of March.

"Polls schedule for Upazila Parishad Elections will be announced in the first week of February," says EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed at a press meet at Nirbachon Bhaban on Monday (Jan 14).  

“Voting in Upazilas for eight divisions will be held in four phases and the fifth phase will be held in rest of Upazilas in all administrative divisions which tenure will be expired,” he added.

“We are collecting information regarding the Upazila Parishad to hold elections as per administrative divisions keeping SSC, HSC examinations and Ramadan,” he added. 

The elections in 487 upazilas were held in six phases between February and May in 2014.
