DHAKA: Customs officials seized more than 4.5 kilograms of gold from a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight ‘Ranga Prabhat’ at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
A preventive team of Dhaka Customs House seized the gold, worth around Tk 2.32 crore, from underneath a seat on Wednesday morning (Nov 21).
Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Customs House Othello Chowdhury told Banglanews that the Biman flight (BG 228) from Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, landed at Dhaka airport via Sylhet. Being tipped off, customs officials conducted a search and recovered 40 gold bars weighing about 4.460kg from under the seat of 45B.
