Jubo League leader arrested over deaths during AL clash

DHAKA: Police arrested a leader of Jubo League, youth wing of ruling Awami League, a day after two people were killed falling off a vehicle during a factional clash of AL in city’s Mohammadpur area.

The arrestee, identified as Ariful Islam Tuhin, convener of Adabar thana unit Jubo League. Tuhin was shown arrest in a case filed by one victim Arif Hossain’s father Omar Faruk.

Mohammadpur police station officer-in-charge (OC) Jamaluddin Mir told Banglanews that Tuhin has been arrested after his involvement was found initially. Police have collected CCTV footages in and around the scene and it is being checked to identify who else were involved. 

Earlier on Saturday (Nov 11), two teenage boys were run over by a vehicle and killed amid a clash between two factions of the Awami League in the Adabor area of Dhaka’s Mohammadpur.

The deceased were identified as Arif, 17, and Shujon, 15.
