Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the government wants the next national polls be held in a free and fair manner and all political parties to join it.

She made the remarks when UK Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Jeremy Hunt called on her in the bilateral meeting room at the UN headquarters here on Monday (Sept 24)

After the meeting, Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque briefed reporters.

Jeremy Hunt said the UK is looking forward to free, fair and participatory elections in Bangladesh.

In response, the premier said: “We also want the next election to be free and fair and all (political) parties to join it.”

Jeremy Hunt expressed his desire to visit Bangladesh.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and PM’s Principal Secretary Md Najibur Rahman were present on the occasion.
