PM leaves for Morocco

DHAKA: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh for Morocco on Monday (November 14) to attend the World Climate Conference, COP-22, scheduled to be held in Marrakech.

A VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines left the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with the premier and her 58-member entourage aboard at 10:15 am.

The team includes water resources minister Anisul Islam Mahmud, environment and forests minister Anwar Hossain, foreign minister AH Mahmood Ali and others. 

The flight is expected to land at Marrakesh Menara International Airport around 4:00pm.

After the reception at the airport, the premier will be escorted to Hotel La Mamounia.

Sheikh Hasina will join the conference on Tuesday morning (November 15).

King Mohammad VI of Morocco, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Executive Secretary Patricia Espinosa will welcome her at the venue.

Sheikh Hasina will join a high-level session comprising the world leaders in the climate conference at 10:00am.

Later at noon, she will attend a lunch with the king at his royal palace in Marrakech and deliver a speech at the conference in the afternoon.

The tour will end on November 16.
