China reported 406 new cases on Wednesday in an outbreak of the coronavirus that has spread to other parts of Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

Another 52 deaths were reported in mainland China, where the epidemic has been concentrated.

The updates bring mainland China's totals to 78,064 cases and 2,715 deaths in the 24 hours until midnight.

Also on Wednesday, Thailand reported three more new cases, bringing its total to 43. 

The novel coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting 42 countries and territories around the world and 1 international conveyance (the "Diamond Princess" cruise ship harbored in Yokohama, Japan).

With this, the total number of deaths reached 2,764 in the 24 hours until midnight. Some 409 new cases of infection were confirmed, bringing the total to 81,000. Of them 30,165 were recovered.
