MYMENSINGH: Three people were killed in a road accident in Mymensingh on Sunday night (July 5).

The accident took place when as a truck rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Mymensingh-Kishoreganj highway in Nandail upazila around 11:30pm.

The deceased are- auto-rickshaw driver Md Hanif Mia, 22, hailed from Singrail union of the upazila, Noyon Mia from Kendua upazila and Arif Mia, 25.

Confirming the matter to Banglanews, Nandail model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Munsur Ahmed said: “Auto-rickshaw driver Md Hanif Mia was traveling to Nandail after picking up two passengers from Kishoreganj.”

“A speedy truck hit the three-wheeler from opposite direction as the vehicle reached Nandail Chakmati area, leaving driver Hanif and passenger Arif dead on the spot. Another passenger Noyon Mia was injured in the crash,” the police officer said.

He was sent to Kishoreganj Adhunik Sadar Hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries later, he said, adding that police are trying to detain the truck driver.
