A majority portion of Muslims in Bangladesh will celebrate the Eid on Monday (May 25) while in some areas of the country traditionally observe the religious festivals in keeping with dates followed in countries of the Middle East.

The devotees in these areas also began fasting on the same day with the people of Saudi Arabia.

Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in the country on Monday (May 25) as the Shawwal moon was not sighted in Bangladesh sky on Saturday.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee on Saturday evening after reviewing the information of the Shawwal moon sighting.
