DHAKA: A writ petition was filed against BNP-nominated mayoral candidate Tabith Awal seeking cancellation of his candidacy to Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) polls alleging that he concealed wealth information in his election affidavit.

A retired judge of Appellate Division AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik filed the writ petition to the concerning branch of the High Court on Sunday (January 26).

Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik told Banglanews: "I filed the writ on Sunday. The petition is likely to be placed before a bench headed by Justice JBM Hasan on Monday (January 27).

Advocate Kamrul Haque Siddiqui and advocate Abdul Matin Khasru will move for the writ petitioner.
