DHAKA:  Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) Vice-President Nurul Haque Nur and joint convener of Sadharon Chhatra Odhikar Songrokkhon Parishad Rashed Khan were sued in the Digital Security Act.

Arnab, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL)’s publicity secretary of Jagannath Hall at DU filed the case with Dhanmondi police station on Thursday night (December 26).

Additional Commissioner (AC) of Dhanmondi Zone under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Abdullahil Kafi told Banglanews: “A case was filed against Nur and Rashed with Dhanmondi police station on charges of spreading religious incitement and propaganda through social networking sites. A DU student filed the complaint against them under sections 25, 26, 29 and 31 of the Digital Security Act.”

According to case statement, Rashed propagated religious incitement through social media. They intentionally spread various falsehood and unfounded information. 

Earlier on December 25, Sabbir Hossain, a student of Shaheed Serjeant Jahurul Haque Hall of DU, filed a theft case against Nurul Haque Nur and 29 others with the Shahbagh Police Station.
