GAZIPUR: Ten bodies of those killed at a fan factory fire in Gazipur Sadar Upazila have been handed over to the respective families.

The process began at 1 pm on Monday (December 16).

Gazipur Additional District Magistrate Shahinul Islam confirmed the matter.

Shahinul Islam said: “After the incident, the bodies were preserved in the morgue of Shaheed Tazuddin Ahmad Medical College & Hospital in Gazipur. The bodies could not be identified as they were blackened by smoke and burns. At one point, DNA was performed and the bodies were identified. Later, 10 bodies were handed over to their families at noon. On behalf of district administration, each family has been given Tk 25,000 for the burial.”

Ten persons were killed as fire erupted in Luxury Fan Factory at Keshorta area under Gazipur Sadar Upazila on Sunday evening (December 15).
