SU students stage demo over Rumpa’s death

DHAKA: Students of the Stamford University (SU) staged demonstration for the second day centering on the death of their fellow Rubaiyat Sharmin Rumpa.

They brought out a procession and formed a human chain on Dhanmondi and Siddheshwari campuses in the capital on Saturday (December 7).

According to students’ demand, Rumpa was a victim of murder. The authorities have not been able to reach a conclusion even three days after of the incident.  Whoever is involved in this murder must be brought to the book. 

Besides, they demanded this demonstration spread across all university campuses so that security is ensured for all students and women.

Rumpa, 21, a second-year student of English department of the university, was found dead on an alley near her residence in the capital’s Siddheshwari area on Wednesday night.
