BARISHAL: An elderly woman was killed as her house collapsed over her during cyclone Bulbul in Wazirpur upazila of the district on Sunday (November 10).

The accident happened at around 3 pm.

The victim was--identified as Ashalota Majumder, 65—a resident of South Madarsi of ward no-1 of Wazirpur Municipal area.

A tree uprooted and fell over the women’s house, thereby causing the roof collapse during the storm. She died on the spot, Masuma Akther,  Wazirpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) , confirmed the death to Banglanews.

Shishir Kumar Paul, officer-in-Charge of Wazirpur police station, told Banglanews: “Some trees got uprooted in some areas on Barishal-Dhaka highway. Removal work is underway.”
