2 siblings go missing in Jamuna

BOGURA: Two siblings went missing in the Jamuna River when they jumped into it to bring back their football at Pakuria Char in Sariakandi upazila on Friday (August 16) afternoon. 

The missing boys were identified as are Omar Ali, 15, and Jahid Hasan, 12, sons of Atiqur Rahman of Atapara area of Bogura town . 

Quoting locals, police said a group of students of Shaheen School and College, including the duo, went to the char for outing.

At one stage of playing a football match, their football fell into the river and the two bothers jumped into it to bring the football back and drowned.

On information, firefighters rushed in and launched a rescue operation. The divers postponed their rescue operation around 8:00pm as they failed to trace the two brothers.  , said Sariakandi police station Sub Inspector Subrata.
