 UN Secretary-General concerns about Rohingya crisis

DHAKA: During a meeting with Bangladesh Foreign Minister AK M Abdul Momen, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Gutierrez expressed concern over ongoing Rohingya crisis 

A press release issued released on Thursday (July 18) by Bangladesh Permanent Mission to the United Nations disseminated the information.

The UN Secretary-General and Foreign Minister held a meeting in New York on July 16 and discussed the issue of ongoing Rohingya crisis. In the meeting, UN Secretary-General expressed concern over ongoing Rohingya crisis.

When the Foreign Minister sought more help from the United Nations and the international community for a sustainable solution to the Rohingya issue, the UN Secretary General said he is making a supreme effort to resolve the crisis. 

In this meeting, a series of discussions on the specific issues related to the activities of the international community, including the United Nations, were discussed.

Secretary-General Antonio Gutarez expressed gratitude and thanked to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the people of Bangladesh for the generosity and humanitarian cooperation on Rohingya issue.

The Foreign Minister requested the United Nations and UN Secretary General to participate, attend and involvement in the celebration of birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh's independence worldwide.

He also gave special invitation to the Secretary General for the participation in the program in the United Nations on the issue organized by Bangladesh Permanent Mission in the United Nations.
