MYMENSINGH: Former state minister for home affairs Tanjim Ahmed Sohel Taj's nephew Iftekhar Alam Sourav was rescued from Tarakanda upazila of Mymensingh early Thursday (June 20), eleven days after he reportedly went missing from Chattogram.

The suspected abductors dropped him at Bot Tola area around 5:30am.

Around 6:30am, a police team led by Mymensingh District Superintendent of Police (SP) Shah Abid Hossain, rescued 25-year-old Sourav from in front of an auto rice mill and took him to the SP office.

Tarakanda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mizanur Rahman confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

Process is on to hand over Sourav to his family. He was kept in unknown place for long, said SP Shah Abid Hossain.

Sohel Taj earlier claimed that Sourav was abducted from in front of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on June 9.

Afterwards, at a press briefing arranged at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), Sourav's parents claimed that a group of men picked up Sourav from a Banani residence on May 16.

The same group are involved in abducting him again. Sourav was picked up over a personal relationship, added the parents.

However, on Thursday, Sohel Taj came on Facebook Live to confirm that Sourav has been rescued.
