CCSEC dialogue on ILO Convention 182 & OP 2 held The discussion session

A dialogue titled "Dialogue on the Implementation Status of ILO Convention 182 and Optional Protocol 2 to UNCRC" was held at CIRDAP International Conference Room in the city on Tuesday (June 18).

Terre des Hommes Netherlands, under the project “Combating Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CCSEC) Project in Bangladesh” supported by the Delegation of the European Union in Dhaka organized the program.

In the dialogue, speakers discussed and shared the findings of a research to assess the implementation status of ILO Convention 182 and Optional Protocol 2 in Bangladesh.

Md Mujibul Haque, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Labour and Employment was the Chief Guest while, Shamsul Alam Dudu, member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry Home Affairs and Laila Jasmin Banu, Program Manager (Governance and Human Rights), The Delegation of the European Union, Dhaka  were present as the special guests.

Mahmudul Kabir, Country Director of Terre des Hommes Netherlands gave the welcome speech and chaired the dialogue.

Md. Sharfuddin Khan, consultant of the research paper, presented the keynote paper while AKM Masud Ali, was the key discussant.

CCSEC project is a forty-two months consortium initiative of Terre des Hommes Netherlands started on January 1, 2016. The project aims to contribute to the elimination of commercial sexual exploitation of children in Bangladesh with a fund of the European Union.

With technical support of Terre des Homes Netherlands Bangladesh, the project is being implemented in collaboration with Social and Economic Enhancement Programme (SEEP), Breaking the Silence (BTS) and Society for Social Services (SSS).

The working areas of the project are Dhaka North City Corporation and Tangail Sadar Upazilla, Tangail district.

SEEP serves the Secretariat role to implement CCSEC. SEEP set up two Drop in- Centers in Mirpur for providing holistic services to the children exposed to commercial sexual exploitation and at risk children.

Breaking the Silence (BTS) provides psychosocial care to the children. And, Society for Social Services (SSS) runs a full-fledged shelter home for the rescued children by providing them a comprehensive holistic care.
