PM asks public representatives to win people’s hearts Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at oath-taking ceremony

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged public representatives to win the hearts of the masses by working for their welfare. 

The prime minister was addressing the oath-taking ceremony of newly-elected mayor and councilors of the Mymensingh City Corporation (MCC) at her office on Monday (May 27).

In her speech to public representatives, Sheikh Hasina said: “Being elected public representatives once means not an end of a chapter; rather you will have to win hearts and minds of the people of their locality.”

Speaking about public money, she said the large amount of allocation given to you is people’s money. They must reach people.

Earlier, the premier administered the oath of office to MCC Mayor Ekramul Haque Titu, while 44 councillors — 33 male councillors and 11 women councillors — took oath from Local Government Minister Md Tazul Islam.

Local Government Division Senior Secretary SM Golam Faruk conducted the oath-taking ceremony, while Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was present on the dais.

The first-ever election to the MCC was held on May 5 in a festive mood.
