DHAKA: Two persons were killed in separate lightning strikes in Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria and Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj on Friday (May 24).

In Nasirnagar of Brahmanbaria, Rafi Uddin, son of Shahnewaj Miah, of Datmandol village of sadar union, was cutting paddy during rains. He died on the spot after a thunderbolt struck him.

Kabir Hossen, officer-in-charge of Nasirnagar, police station said police were sent to the spot.

Meanwhile, a farmer was killed on the spot while he was fishing in a haor of Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj, Iqbal Hossen, officer-in-charge of Nabiganj police station, told Banglanews.

The victim was identified as Sizil Miah, 45, son of late Abdul Jalil, of Gujakhair village under union no-8 of the upazila.

All information of the deceased farmer has been gathered.  His family will be given government aid, Ataul Gani Osmani, Assistant Commissioner (land) of Nabiganj police station, told Banglanews.
