DHAKA: Zayan Chowdhury, who died in bomb attacks in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday, was buried at Banani graveyard beside martyrs of August 15, 1975.

The namaz-e-janaza of Zayan, grandson Awami League presidium member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, was held at Chairmanbari playground after Asr prayer around 5:15pm.

Salah Uddin Ahmed, khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, conducted the namaz-e-janaza of Zayan. 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited the residence of her paternal cousin Sheikh Selim in city’s Banani area to console the family members of Zayan Chowdhury.

The body of eight-year-old Zayan Chowdhury, who was killed in Sri Lanka blasts, reached home around 12: 54 pm.

Sheikh Fazlul Karim MP, the grandfather of Zayan Chowdhury, along with other family members, relatives, AL leaders received the body of his grandchild at the airport.

Zayan’s father Moshiul Huq chowdhury, sustained injuries in the series bomb attacks.

The death toll in the Easter attacks in Sri Lanka has risen to 359.
