US President Donald Trump is likely to join Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the mega "Howdy Modi!" event which will take place in Houstan, Texas, sources said. However, the sources said that the organisers are yet to confirm.

The Howdy Modi event is being organised in Houstan to welcome PM Modi who will address the Indian-American community in the city on September 22.

The Houston event will be PM Modi's third major address to the Indian-American community after he became the prime minister in 2014 and the first after his re-election in May, 2019.

The previous two addresses were at the Madison Square Garden in New York in 2014 and the Silicon Valley in 2016. Both the events were attended by more than 20,000 people.

As of now, 50,000 people have registered for Howdy Modi, while 8,000 people are on the waiting list for the event at NRG stadium in Houston.

More than 60 prominent US lawmakers, including the first American-Hindu Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard and Indian-American Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, will attend the Howdy Modi mega diaspora event.

Howdy Modi is expected to be the biggest gathering in the USA for a foreign leader, after the Pope.

"Shared dreams and bright future: India America story" will be the theme of the event.

PM Modi will be in the US till September 28, primarily for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), where he will make a speech on September 27.
