Wild elephant kills Bangladeshi in Darjeeling Syed Saimun Kanak with his wife in Darjeeling

DHAKA: A Bangladeshi national was killed in a wild elephant’s attack in Darjeeling district of India. 

The incident occurred at a hilly road in Murti area under Nagarkata police station of Dooars on Friday (Jan 25), said Ashim Majumdar, Officer-In-Charge (OC) of Nagarkata Police Station.

The deceased was identified as Syed Saimun Kanak, 50, hailed from Kumarkhali upazila under Kushtia. He used to live in Sadarghat area in Old Dhaka.

He was a businessman in profession and served as media affairs secretary of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD).

A wild elephant attacked a group of three including Kanak when they tried to take photo of the animal.

Kanak died on the spot and the rest others managed to escape.
