Coronavirus: Bashundhara Group to build 5000-bed hospital

DHAKA: Bashundhara Group, the country’s leading business conglomerate, will build a 5000-bed hospital in the capital for treating patients infected with coronavirus (COVID-19).

Bashundhara Group Managing Director (MD) Sayem Sobhan Anvir placed the proposal to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday (March 29) afternoon. 

The premier has given her consent in this regard, sources said.

Bashundhara Group MD also donated Taka 10 crore to the Prime Minister’s relief fund to combat the spreading of Covid-19.

According to the written proposal of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, four convention centers and one trade center of the group located in Kuril of the capital would be turned into a 5000-bed hospital.

Besides, Bashundhara Group Chairman has taken measures to distribute food assistance to poor and destitute people of four wards of the Dhaka city corporation regularly through councillors. He is also planning to do something bigger for the welfare of the country and the people during the crisis.
