CHITTAGONG: An apparel-industry worker met his tragic end as the glass-gate of his factory shattered onto his neck in Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) on Thursday morning.

The management of Tareq-Azim Textile Mills closed the factory announcing a vacation as the rest of the workers got agitated hearing about the death of Badal, 28.

Police told banglanews24.com.bd that the glass-door broke down accidentally as Badal pushed it carelessly while leaving the production manager’s office. The shards of glass sheet fell onto his neck and entrapped him.

He was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Camp-in-charge of police at the CEPZ Sergeant Mohammad Hasan told banglanews24.com.bd, “The glass-door had no conventional cautionary mark on it.”

A case was being filed with Bandar thana in this regard.
